Unaware, we forget the simple things, the somehow ‘invisible’ things.
Left unappreciated are the ones that matters the most.. the ones we
can’t function without. Here’s my list of the things that I should be
more thankful for:
1. I am grateful for my spare time. The fact that I still have time
to myself. And the fact that, I can spend those time in the privacy of
my own company. Yes, privacy is a privilege and I thank Allah for that.
Dancing and singing alone in the room, lying on the floor staring at the blank ceiling..just the joy of
doing nothing, dolce far niente.
2. I am grateful that I can sleep soundly at night. I can sleep at
night with the hopes that tomorrow will be a better day. I can sleep
with the feeling of security and safety and silence.
3. I am grateful that all of the people that I met and have as close
friends, are beautifully wonderful and caring people. People that
genuinely cares about me.. for me. Friends who are being nice without
‘expecting more’. Friends that are nice to me for the humble, simple me.
Not because of the money I have, not because of my family or my status
or something else (which truth be told, I don’t even have and what I
even have, is not really truly mine). These people, I will keep very
close and dear to my heart, no matter how far they are, how long I
haven’t heard from them, because for me, I care for them for who they
are.. and not for what I expect them to be.
4. And most of all I am grateful for the state of the country that
I’m living in. Where I still have a choice and a voice, where I can
still hear the sounds of the birds, the smell of fresh morning air, and
the laughter of children playing in the evening. A place where I can
still have a table full of food to choose from, where calling your
family at home is just one top-up card away, a place where I can still
Instagram a photo of the perfectly blue sky with clear clouds. The
little things. Appreciate, appreciate. Alhamdulillah.
