Not because I have something against buffets. I’m not crazy or anything.
But because to get the permission is so-so..
Me: Mom, I’m breaking fast outside tonight k.
Mom: *pause* Ma tak tahu la apa nak jadi dengan anak Mama ni. Mama tak ajar anak Mama keluar malam macam ni. Bulan puasa bulan yang patut you baca Quran banyak-banyak, sembahyang terawih dekat masjid, berzikir all the time. Not go out hoo-ha hoo-ha malam-malam. Lagi satu Mama nak cakap, Ramadhan buffet in the hotels, not all halal ok. Mama pergi baca buku, dengar ceramah semua Mama learn so many things. Mama tahu you all dah besar, tapi agama mesti ingat. Jangan ikutkan hati je…
Pause.
HOW DO YOU ANSWER TO THAT?!!
Me: Yes, Mom.
Mom: I don’t know anymore. You want to hoo-haa outside, you go la. I already told you.
WHEN SHE SPEAKS IN ENGLISH, YOU’RE SCREWED
Of course it's time to pile on the ELDEST-child charm.Hehehe :D
Tonight was a very intimate do with just the awesome company. So we breaking fast + tarawih together. These people who come into our lives for different reasons, for seasons, and some even for a lifetime. And they make a mark on us. They make a mark on our heart. But one is missing in Dunedin :'(
May the spirit of Ramadan illuminate the world, and may Allah shower His Rahmat and Barakah on us all.
